  1. Hi,

I burned a DVD on my DVD-RW drive on my computer and the DVD plays fine on the computer, but on my home DVD player, it has problems. After about 10 minutes into the DVD, the movie will stall and then automatically stop the DVD. Then when I started the movie all over again, it did the same thing. What's wrong??

    Thanks,

    Have you tried different players?

    How about different media?

Did you check the disc for errors?

Any imperfections on the disc before burning?

Did you burn at the recommended speed of the media? below? above?

Alot of factors can result in faulty playing discs. I'd first check the disc to make sure no errors are present. Some players, some recorders, some burners, and some ROM Drives read over errors better than others.

ROF is right. I might add that there could be an imperfection in your DVD video that is causing your player to have problems. I have a DVD from Europe that plays fine on my PC and my old Apex player, but it will lock up my Philips DVP-642 hard after a few minutes of playing, always at the same spot. I did a freeze frame on my PC of the disc and there is some kind of video imperfection that my DVP-642 chokes and dies on. You can see it in the freeze frame. You might try to look at your DVD and freeze frame it on a PC at the point of failure and look for bad spots on the disc.

  5. Hi,

I was going to try and clean my DVD and see if that helps any. There are fingerprints on there. I have a CD cleaner at home, which consists of some 'CD cleaning' solution and a soft towel. Can I use this solution on my DVD disk or is there a different solution for DVDs??

    Thanks,
