  1. Hey all

I'm converting AVI to MPEG4 and no matter what settings I use, the converted movie is darker than the original AVI -- almost to the point of being unable to watch it in some scenes.

Any ideas on maintaining the AVI's brightness?

    TIA,
    Maury

  2. Try with or without "Decode with Quicktime" and check if there is a difference.

I tried that already and both return equally dark. =(

  4. If you use mencoder engine you may try to change brightness in the filters tab.

How can I do that? I'm converting the AVI to a MOV, and the only option I see to make a MOV is to use ffmpeg.

  6. If you just want to re-encapsulate AVI MPEG-4 into MOV MPEG-4 you may just use DivX Doctor II and avoid re-encoding.

I tried that, too, but the resulting video is too choppy -- though the audio is just fine. =(

  8. Check playback with VLC. If you have some time, you could also try to convert AVI to AVI and then doctor the resulting AVI to turn it into a MOV.
