    Hi e40water,

When you say "digital camera", I'm guessing you mean a stills / photograph camera and not a video camera...

If so, the format might be Quicktime's Movie (filename.mov) - some are.

You say you can't play it - I'm guessing that you're talking about on your PC (or MAC). You might not have the codec for it. What happens when you try to play it?

I'm doing a lot of guessing and asking questions - we need more info...

To play .mov files, you need the Quicktime player. Easily found (I guess) if you do a Google search... It might even be on this site's "Tools" list.

Yes, I believe you can convert MOV files to other formats - not sure which formats, and which tools are available.

Look under "How To... Convert" to the left.

    Glad to help.

the deluxe method is to use quicktime directly for the conversion.
If you have quicktime installed, paying $20.00 to www.apple.com
will unlock features already present but unavailable in the installed player
this will allow handy conversion through either SAVE AS or EXPORT
    become usable in QUICKTIME PRO

The two most common formats those digital cameras record in can be played by either Windows Media player or Quicktime depending on what it's recoreding in. Both are free if you only want to view the video.

As for converting I've had a little experience with this, a lot of frustration. The first problem is they use a very odd framerate which seems to vary depending on the model, but basically is around the 10 fps area. One of the issues I ran into is my editor appeared to load the entire clip into memory for editing and converting... if you want to convert I'd look into tools available from whoever owns the format as suggested above.
