  1. help guys please i have a rmvb file thats dimensions are 452x296 23.97fps , now i`m NOT asking how to import and demux and encode , that i can do , i`m asking for help on tmpgenc 2.5 AR settings and which template to choose , its for playback in pal 1 land all our dvd players happily play ntsc so i dont wana go to pal 1 25 fps with it

    so firstly is the standard ntsc template the one to pick or do i have to change the inverse teleccine 23.976 setings

    and secondly for playback on a WS tv which is the correct AR setting , the file does not at present have black bars , so do i need to add them and if so how , a little advice please in doing the ar would be realy appreciated

    i`l also add that i have created a test file of the rmvb in avi with winavi and no resizing selected and then dragged it into fitcd to get the correct aspect ratio numbers which where 688 x 384 , i have done a test run and looked fine when finaly made in WS but not with the 16:9 setting which is what i normaly use to view films and also i had the jerks coz i selected pal instead of ntsc but a new recode will sort that

    i just need u guys to help out so i dont waste another 5 hrs encoding and burning and then finding i have misssed something along the way again

    hmm
    i think i need help with fitcd as well , i just realised , i have discrepancys in my sizes as well , oh dear i do need help.... ok so lets assume MPC reports the correct original size , if i input that manuly into fit cd which options in the bottom half do i need to select to get the corrected AR ....on the left do i need to select 1:1 or dvd704 and the tick boxs ....anamorphic ? bicubic , bilinear? .....yeah i defo need a doctor
    thanks guys

    FitCD tends to bet pretty good at getting the source resolution correct. The source will be 1:1 if it is an avi of some kind. The target will be DVD 720 or 704 depnding on what you want. Either is compliant. Anamorphic - is the target 16:9 ? Even if it is, given the source resolution is pretty low, I'd say no to anamorphic in this instance. Bicubic, bilinear and Lancsoz are resize algorythms. You only need to worry about those if you use the avisynth script that FitCD generates. It would probably simplify things for you if you did. Just generate the script, save it as an avs file, then load this into tmpgenc. The video will be the correct size when tmpgenc gets it' so the encoding will be pretty straight forward. All you need to do is download and install avisynth.

  3. Select PAL 720x576 as the output on the Video tab.
    Set the framerate to 23.976 and add 3:2 pulldown.
    On the Advanced tab, set source to 1:1 VGA, keep aspect ratio 2.
    Encode the video.
    Run DGPulldown.
    Select 23.976 -> 25fps.
    Author as normal.

    If you want a simple NTSC file, encode using the NTSC "film" template. This will apply the 23.976fps and pulldown.
