  1. Hi,

One of my nephews wants me to build a new system for him.
It must be able to play Guild Wars well.

My problem is the video card. I was going with an PCI-E AMD 939 3500+
ASUS based system with a 6800 GT or Ultra. Now I hear there are
freezing issues. So how about a X600 x800 video chipset?
He needs a high frame rate in heavily crowded areas - something over
20 fps. I have no clue about these MMORPG's.

Any Guild War experts out there?

guild wars is more cpu intense than anything else. the system requirements are actually pretty low for a modern game. im runnin a 9800pro at higher res with no probs at all. but i know people that are running onboard to even a 9000 with no issues.

I dont have Guild Wars but can comment that I own a Athlon64 3500+, Asus MB, and a PCI-E 6600GT.

I have played many games (GTA Vice City, Doom 3, etc) at high resolutions without any problems. I have not had any freezing issues to date.

Jeebus, I should think a rig like that will be able to play most anything on the market right now at high detail
FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming

  5. Thanks waheed.

Looks like the 6800 GT or Ultra is out as too many
people are having issues with them and the game.
I guess the ATI will have to do. A pity because
in all other cases the Nvida rocks and I have
never been a fan of catalyst drivers.

    @ glockjs. I know that the 9200,9600 & 9800 work
fine but you know kids, they want the latest and
    greatest

    @rallynavvie

You would think so, especially as this game uses
DirectX 8, but like many things these days perhaps
Guild Wars went from beta to retail a bit too quickly.

Ah for the old days when things worked or you did
not buy them. These days we ARE the beta testers :/
