    Hey friends,

I have interlaced problems and I have followed several guides and threads (https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=269116) and had the AVI corrected.

But, when I re-render the fixed AVI into MPEG, the interlaced problems basically restart.

I'm using Video Vegas editing (insert laughter here. I heard VidVegas is horrible) and thinking of switching to TMPGEnc. It is a company DVD I'm working on and I can't seem to understand why this is occuring (obviously rendering avi to mpeg, but a fixed avi nonetheless.)

I've tried everything I can think of (google, 100fps, yahoo, vid help) so I turn to those of you with the knowledge how to correct the problem.

How did you deal with this? What do you suggest?

Something else, maybe I'm doing this wrong but... when I resave the AVI from virtual dub, the new AVI file comes out 10 times larger than the original AVI file. And the original AVI file looks slicker. Why is that?
I have a FAT32 drive on a Windows XP system. Why is that? I thought FAT32 doesn't exist on WinXP?

    Thanks for your help.

I see that everyone basically uses TMPGEnc so I wonder if thats what I should move into.

Vegas is one of the top editors, and it's implementation of mainconcepts mepg encoder is as good as tmpgenc for quality, and about 3 times the speed.

Can you post a picture of the interlace problem ?

When dealing with interlaced footage, there aren't many things that can go wrong. Generally, so long as you have the correct field order (generally lower or bottom field first for DV), then all will be well.

However - you can only test the finished output correctly on a television set. If you try to test it on your PC, unless perhaps using POwer DVD, you will see the interlacing. This is because your PC monitor is progressive, and doesn't compensate for interlaced footage.

So - have you tested it on a TV yet ?

the ones before virtual dub = yes

the ones after virtual dub = no

the reason is because i saw the same things happening, i thought it wasn't worth it to burn a dvd.

i'll try a burn with it ASAP and let you know of my findings
this problem has been bugging me for weeks and weeks

    still doesnt work.

same probs as though i didnt de-interlace it.

i'm telling you that everything works good if i do the field bob (several time) in avi format but when i re-render it back into mpeg, it still continues screwing up
