I tried to put both divx 5.2.1 and 3ivx codecs to play a xvid
movie in quicktime 7 but the video plays "choppy" as if it was
    removed some frames.

Does anyone knows how to fix this? In fact I trying to use
ffmpegx to encode a movie using quicktime decode.

    Thanks,

    Alex

Yes, it seems that there is a problem with divx...
Anyway, I am using another xvid codec (version 0.51)
    found in

    http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~naegelic/index.php

    It worked for me.

    Best wishes
