u opened the gates of hell really. this discussion could go on for months without u getting ur answer. keyword here is : BUDGET.
how much r u willing to pay. for the purpose u suggested we can safely put out the 30$ usb 2 converters. so we're left with actual cards.
for that u can check this link here.

my personal experience with Matrox was great, so if budget is no issue, u can treat urself with a massive RTX100 from Matrox.
Good Luck

Evaluate this package as an entry point and move up to higher hardware if you think you need it.

As a separate project, get a hardware MPeg capture card like a PVR-250 or higher if you can afford it. -
For the budget u stated u definetly can go for MATROX RTX100 with Adobe Suite that includes Premiere Pro + After effects +Encore + Audition if u dont have them aready.
If u do have them u can get the card for around 700$ or so.
Not sure about ur Nvidia graphic card though, u should check on there site:
www.matrox.com
If what edDV said was true regarding Canopus, I guess u have some research to conduct on ur own to check for compatibility. The link I provided in my earlier reply would help.God Bless Lebanon...
