  1. I just got rid of salm.exe but still have this one. I've run Spybot, adaware and Trend Micro's free online scan (none found salm either) and none of them found this. I can't find anything on google either.

Make sure that you have the latest updates of each. Sometimes the file name is a randomized derivation of the original spyware/virus, in order to fool you (but not the scanner). There have been many that I couldn't google, but the scanner found them fine. Get spywareblaster, and have an antivirus running locally (Panda or EZ are very good).

There is a REAL tough one going around. I had it too. I finally gave up and reverted back to a two week old Ghost image, set that back further with my CRP Suite/Configsafe program then finally installed SP2...all without being online at all.

Run your spyware and a/v programs in safe mode. That way, the bugger can't load - the a/v program will be able to remove it.

These smarter viruses will rename themselves, making it hard to remove.

  5. Panda anti virus. Try a demo. Works on the tough stuff that even stinger can't kill.

Sometimes they aren't viruses but more like pest programs that virus scanners cant detect, try hijackthis and type msconfig in your run bar to see the startup routine,if you are experienced enough you can go into your registry and delete the startup routines in the run command sections.

Also do a search for aeowxos without the exe extension and delete it and end its process first in task manager.
