Just bought a lite-on 5045. Hope I haven't messed up. Has a date of Nov 2004 on the box. Visiting son and won't be able to test it out till next week. Wished I could have found a newer date but I had to take what I could get because the Costco's in my area do not sell these. Any thoughts? Thanks!![]()

Date doesn't really matter that much. It will probably be a difference in the firmware that is factory loaded on the recorder. Just update the firmware once you get it set up.

The 5045 is a darn nice recorder. I've been using one for about 3 months and it has only messed up once ; it didn't make a +RW disc readable. I always thought that +RW media didn't need to be finalized (and it doesn't in the normal sense), but after the 5045 finished writing a program to the +RW is DOES do something to the data while the unit is flashing STOPPING on the display.
I think you will enjoy your 5045.Proud Member of the Unofficial LiteOn/iLO Beta Testers Club.
