hi, anyone know how I can find out what model superdrives are currently shipping with ibooks? I'm getting one soon and I have many region 1 and 2 discs and I want to be sure I can play them. I know the Matshita UJ8xx series drives are funny and may or may not play out of region discs even with VLC. Thanks.

The current iBook's superdrive does not support DL burning so it is one of those Matshita models. You can buy a combo drive unit and have MCE Tech install the Pioneer DL drive. Or you can wait a little while. There are rumors of an upgraded G4 iBook and Apple may add the DL drive to that lineup.
