  1. I have a Samsung DVD-R4000.

I have transfered all my dv-mini video recordings onto DVD-R
They only play in that machine though. It states it records in DVD-R and DVD-RAM

Is is maybe set on DVD-RAM and that is why they only work on that machine?

Is there a way to switch the setting of recording option or is that just automatic. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Justin

You must finalize them before they play on other machines...Read the manual.

  3. They do finalize. When you press stop, it takes you through the finalizing stage and it always completes??? It plays on that player only?

  4. Oscar is right, you need to "finalize" the DVD-R disc after it's full before it can be played by another player. Refer to your owner's manual as to how to finalize a DVD-R disc. In your case, press the "Functions" button on the remote, then choose the "Disc setting" and "Finalize" option. What you described is not the proper steps of finalizing discs.

  5. Dvdram doesn't need to be finalized tho. But if you have that, you'd have a VRO file, not a vob.

well if you can still record on the disc, it means its not finalized, there should be a final step to finalize a disc in a menu, I dont imagine there being a recorder than finalizes a disc when you press stop. Does dvd-ram even play on regular dvd players? I thought it didnt which is why I didnt pick up a panny in the first place, but maybe im wrong

  7. Well I appreciate everyones help. I thought this whole time it was finalizing because it said finalizing disc. I have read through the manual (I lost mine but I found one online)
It gives steps to do so. Can I take the 30 family videos that I have already created back in and just finalize them???

It didn't say in the manual.

    Thanks,
    Justin

  8. I know with my pannasonic dvd recorder you can add content to a dvd-r, then record more later as space allows. Then finalize it. Just try putting a disc in and try the finalizing process, then try it in another player.
