  1. Hi, don't know if this is the right forum but, does anyone know if there is any free software that I can get to send MPEG's to DV video? Like if I hooked up a DV camera to PC with firewire and just record the MPEG file from the computer to the DV tape. I was told this can't be done on Windows Movie Maker, which seems stramge since iMovie for Mac can. And it seems to be a basic function. Can anyone help me out?

  2. I would suggest first encoding the mpeg to DV avi. You can do this with virtualdubMod. Then you can send this to the DV cam with DVIO or WINDV, both free.

The help file for Movie Maker 2 says that you can export your movie back to a DV camera via firewire. Note that it won't convert the sound in a mpg file if its ac3.
