  1. I have a 774mb 90min divx avi file that I want to convert to DVD with a menu with Sonic MyDVD. I know that 774mb is not that big for such a file, but it comes out at a whopping 5.4gb using Sonic MyDVD. I have a d/l dvd drive, but do not particularly want to purchase expensive d/l discs. My question is this: Is there any way of making the movie fit on a 4.7gb disc from within the program? I've looked and can't see any options for making it fit. In fact, Sonic doesn't seem to let you fit more than one hour of video on a s/l disc.

    Any help please?
    Thanks

You can try use ac3 audio instead of wav.

but do you have to use sonic mydvd?
another easy method is vso divxtodvd and use tmpgenc dvd author if you want a menu.

Most authoring software has video quality options to use during the encoding process. My guess would be that it is defaulting to a high quality setting which really isn't needed.

You could also do the avi to mpeg2 conversion yourself before you author the disc, but if you cannot find the encoding options in your software this won't help, as it will still encode the video again to make it match the settings within Sonic.

  4. normally the problem is motion menus. if you are trying to make a motion menu for your start screen and you use the entire movie, even though you are only using a 15 to 60 second clip it adds the entire movie. you have to edit the clip and only add a 60 second clip.
