I have a ATI AIW 9000 Pro card; which captured perfectly; until we moved the card and re-installed the software into a new 2.4 gig machine a few months ago..This is a dedicated Video machine.. I've not installed anything else.. other than Virtual Dub, AutoGK, and Dr. DivX recently.

I've just noticed recently that the captured mpgs that I've been making have begun to exhibit strange issues; such as the volume constantly going from loud to soft then back to loud. I've absolutely no idea what could be causing this volume problem, or how to resove it.. anyone have any ideas ?

.. ALSO.. the MOTION in the captures seem weird as well.. as if it had frame rate problems.. especially when the camera is panning(in the captured mpg)..the motion isn't smooth at all. MAYBE it has frame rate problems.. but; if it IS frame rate problems.. how do we resolve that issue?

Regarding the motion issues; I thought that maybe if I increase the bit rate, it would help, I've kept all of LordSmurf's settings, but increased the bit rate to 8 megs... well.. yeah.. nice picture- BUT those particular issues are still there in the new captures (working with the TV tuner that come with the ATI MMC 8.7 software.)

When viewing the tv alone on the computer; it looks fine.. no problems at all.. the problems only show up in the captured mpg.

Also; come to think of it.. when I look at the capture that I've burned to DVD on the television.. the image seems to be a little magnified...so much so- that it's hard to watch when it's like this..

Any suggestions as to what could be causing these anamolies to occur?

Thanks for all your help ~

OK.. NOW I have a real problem... I tried to fix the issues I outlined in my previous post; by UN-INSTALLING the ATI drivers and software... then re-booting.. then re-installing the ATI drivers and software AGAIN.. well... when I did this.. everything installed correctly EXCEPT that NOW.. the TV program won't even come up.. so I ran the PC Check.

PC Check indicates that I have everything that I need.. EXCEPT that now- it states that my new Pentium 4, 2.4 gig processor does NOT support MMX... and the PC CHECK recommends that I UPGRADE to a Pentium III 600.. LOL~!

This is crazy. Soooo...I do have a pretty large problem now. Any advice on HOW to get the ATI software and drivers to recognize the MMX capabilities of my new Pentium 4, 2.4 gig processor ?

    Thanks...

Well; I resolved this latest problem; the TV, with the capture utility is back- it's capturing again now; I dunno what happened; but, when we re-installed the ATI drivers and the 8.1 MMC one more time.. the problem with the software not recognizing MMX in the processor went away.

BUT the frame issues that I initially had are still there..the fluctuating sound level problem seems to have resolved itself though..at least for this moment..

Sooo.. any ideas regarding the frame issues? Thanks !~
