I used tmpgenc to put subtitles into a movie and encoded it, what i have got back is a wave audio file and a mpeg video file(with the subtitles), am i going to have to put the audio and the video files back into tmpgenc and encode again or is there a way around this, i don't know if it will work because i get no audio in the tmpgenc preview mode. I know i have made a silly mistake somewhere but could anybody point me in the right direction?

If your target is DVD Video, then you have done nothing wrong. Most authoring packages prefer ES's rather than an mpg. If you still want a single mpg, then it is a simple matter of multiplexing, rather than re-encoding.

Thanks for the help CELTIC_DRUID, i multiplexed the audio and the video with tmpgenc plus 2.5 and got back a file ready to burn to dvd without recoding. For some reason the file wouldn't play back using windows media player but was fine with both nero showtime and zoomplayer. I burned the file to dvd and it works just fine, i'm so glad i checked it out with other media players before just deleting it. Anyway thanks to everyones input, both here and at doom9.
