I have been using the following tutorial to rip a DVD to AVI:
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=223342
When using IfoEdit I get the following error messages:
* 1 out of 3 DVD-Video streams failed to render properly
- video stream
Do you still want to continue?
...and then this one:
Cannot get the IVideoWindow interface. Sorry, cant play DVD titles.
When I skip to the part in the tutorial where it starts using SmartRipper and get to the point where it instructs me to start ripping, I get the following message box as soon as it starts:
Quit Ripping?
...when I click 'no' it just kinda doesnt do anything more.
Any help?
Cheers
Bizt

He was just unlocking your dvd, I believe there. Just skip ahead and go to the decrypter part and decrypt the dvd . Try DVD Decrypter instead.
Quality is my policy. -
I understand about unlocking DVD's and I know how to use DVDdecrypter.
What I want to do is to be able to preview the DVD in Ifoedit before making alterations.
I am currently trying different versions of Ifoedit to see if that makes any difference (perhaps due to a bug) but so far having no luck. -
DVD Shrink can do it too.
Life is like a pothole, you just have to learn to get around it. -
Yeah I know that, thanks (not meaning to sound rude).
But I would really like to know how to do it in Ifoedit, after all whats the point in a piece of software having a useful feature if you cant get it to work !
But thanks for the DVDSHRINK suggestion, PS I've been doing it this way for a while now and I would now like to advance into the more techie stuff. -
By the way jimmalenko I discovered this feature from a post you made in another topic which I've been watching, regarding the guy who wants to rip a small section from a DVD.
You suggested Ifoedit would be an easier way than DVDSHRINK so I thought I'd have a look.
And now I'm like a dog with a bone and wont rest till I've sussed it. -
I thought that was the case. It's pretty sweet (when working) as you just hit "Play DVD" and then it shows you in two dropdown boxes which title and chapter it is playing as they play, and then gives you a list of the titles played when you press stop. I just think it's a bit more clinical than wandering through the DVD structure with DVDShrink
If in doubt, Google it. -
OK, so I loaded a trial version of PowerDVD onto my system and then retried the DVD player in Ifoedit.
It worked so I guess PowerDVD must load some files which Ifoedit requires to run its DVD player. Obviously WinDVD doesnt have the same files.
But I guess I should mention that I did get one dialog box appear mentioning that 1 video stream did not render properly, but Ifoedit's DVD player still worked.
Do you get the same thing happen jimmalenko ??
I'm also wondering whether Media Player Classic may help.
I'm going to give it a try and I will let you know what happens.
So bizt_uk give PowerDVD a try and see if it works for you and let us know what happens. -
Just tried Media Player Classic but it didn't work as it doesn't install on to the hard drive like a normal program (doh!!).
The best option seems to be PowerDVD.
