I backed up a dvd to my hard drive, theres a video_ts folder and audio_ts folder of course, so I burned those 2 to a data dvd (probably wrong) and it worked on my cyberhome 300 (probably b/c it reads mpegs on data discs) but I find out it doesnt work on any other players. Anyways, since I dont have nero and dont plan on getting it, how would I burn it?

I have NTI dvd maker, it has an option for burn dvd data disc, a video_ts disc, and create an iso image. I dont know which one will make dvd players see this as a dvd, which one should I choose? I guess it was wrong just to put those 2 folders on a data disc.

I would use DVDDecrypter to burn it as an image file. DVDShrink can create the image file and use Decrypter to burn. Easy.

But you can probably use the NTI software to burn your present folders in VIDEO_TS mode.

Do you think the NTI burn to DVD Video_TS format is the way to go? I dont really feel like downloading another program if NTI can do it, I'm sure it has some kind of dvd movie burning in it and that format I mentioned might be it, I guess I'll waste another dvd and find out. But there is an option to make an image file, and I remember one of the guides talking about nero image files, if the video_ts format doesnt work should I try that? It seems every program out there suggests burning to Nero, Nero this Nero that. I guess someday I should buy Nero

That's for VCD/SVCD but it shouldn't be too hard to work out how to do DVD.
    If in doubt, Google it.

If you look at What is DVD at the top left you'll find that a DVD disc should have just two folders, VIDEO_TS with the .vob, .bup and .ifo files in it and an AUDIO_TS with nothing in it. Both folder names must be in upper case. So it sounds like you are burning correctly.

However, some players will only play -R discs, some will only play +R discs and some will only play Pressed (commercially made) discs. One of my players will play -R and +R but won't touch any -RW or +RW. Some are very picky on the precise brand of discs you use. Look up your players in the list at the left and see what they can play.

hmm, well I'm currently burning my disc from the NTI dvd video_ts format thats in the software, I guess I'll have to see if that will solve my problem, although it wouldnt let me add the audio_ts folder....don't know why.

I know about the compatibility issues, the dvd I made didnt work in 4 dvd players I tried besides the cyberhome, all of them play dvd-rs with no problems (I know b/c I burn on a set top recorder all the time)

ok it worked, I guess I shouldnt have burned it to a data disc on my first try, but using the video_ts format on the NTI software worked like a charm, thanks for all the suggestions. They need to update that NTI guide though for burning dvds
