    Hi,

I'm looking for a way to restore the error you can see on the image.
If I would know the name from the error I could search for a virtualdub filter.
Can anyone please tell me a good virtualdub filter to restore this?

    Thnx,
    Jelle

  2. No software will help this. The only way you could fix this with software would be to Crop the Video. You may get away with some enhancement but nothing that would look any better
What was the source of this Video?

The source is an old VHS!
I never tried to restore old VHS and it seems like it isn't easy.

It looks to me more like damaged tape. Like it was stored flat instead of on the edge.

You need to get a VCR to play the tape correctly. Filters cannot fix that.

    Just a thought . . .

You could try to use heavy temporal smoothing a couple of seconds around where the white stripe is visible. You'll get a lot of ghosting, and it probably won't completely reomove the error, but it might make it less noticeable/disruptive. You would have to find a balance of how much you can remove it to how badly the smoother itself is going to mess up your video

I've never had this problem. This is just what I would try if I did. I have no idea if it would work at all.
