  2. Just recently tried an SVCD I made on my mate's 711 and it worked fine. I think you might want to try using different CD media or burning at 1x speed to be safe. The disc I used was a CDRW so this might have made a difference. I used Nero 5.5 to make the SVCD.

    Ok.
    It means that your firmware is 7.03 (it's an old one, you should upgrade it to 7.12 or maybe 7.22 if you have a cd-rome recorder)

    It also means that your actually p-code is 053. if you want to see svcd you have to enter a new p-code (055 = pal, region 2) but pay attention you'll loose the regiofree ability.
    with the original remote, you have to enter :
    play 159 055 000 000 000 play (with the original remote you can only change this p-code 25 times so it's better to use a rc6 remote (oneforall, pronto or palm), so you can also make your player regionfree.
