  1. Well...as luck would have it...

after receiving some good feedback when I asked about when to use proc amps my neighbour said he is moving overseas....he wants to sell me is MINT Sima SCC-2 video enchancer....

Now other on this board have said that proc amps are the way to go....but for $100 I can have the SCC-2....is this a good unit? Would I be disappointed over a proc amp....I would use it for 98% Hi-8 and the rest the odd VHS.

    Thanks in advance!!!

Looks like a good device, listed for ~$130-190US new. I would offer him $85 cash, but that's just me.

  3. You can pick up an honest to goodness used profesional broadcast studio TBC these days for about that much.

  4. I use one now but going to pruchase a Sign Video PA-100 when I get the $. I paid $74 for a refurbished one, so check around 1st and make him a cash offer of $85 cause when you add s/h online you'd be ~$85.

It's a nice little unit but not a full fledged proc. amp.
It does remove macrovision but won't completely remove bad jitter (no TBC). Does a decent job of color correcting and is nice to have for those washed out tapes. I like it.

  6. Not a bad deal at $100... but $85 would be better. They work OK for what they cost. You need to know that they do introduce some visible image quality loss, and you can't shut off the "stabilizer" (MV defeater) which sometimes causes problems.

  7. For what it's worth- mine is a Sima CC Pro not 2. I think the 2's were different? Or the same thing? I have s-video as well as composite.
