  1. Hi,

I got some tv episodes in mpg (vcd) format. I burned them on DVD+R and play them in my dvp 642. But after a few minutes the sound becomes out of sync. Why is that? I try the regular trick of pushing the Menu Button a few times to reset the sound, but it never syncs back completely. It's really annoying...

The fsound is fine on my computer.

    Any idea?

It could be your media. Maybe a different brand of DVD+R would give better results. Also, you didn't say what kind of disc you burned. Did you burn raw MPG files to the DVD+R disc in DVD-ROM mode? Did you use another, unnamed, program to convert your files to DVD format and burn a DVD? When you say the sound is fine on your computer, do you mean on the original files or on the DVD you burned?

Are you sure the audio in the mpeg files is in sync? If these mpeg files have been cut or trimmed by software that is not mpeg frame accurate then they could easily be out of sync more and more as you get further into the video. Also if the mpeg file was authored at a different audio bitrate than the original recording audio sync will gradually get worse as you play the video.

  4. Thanks for your input guys.

The MPG files appear to have correct audio sync when I play them in WinXP using Windows Media Player.

I burned the MPG files directly as-is on a DVD+R disc. I didn't convert them. When I load the disc in the 642, in the menu it shows a MPG VCD ICON beside each title track. I play them directly...

Any idea if I should be indeed converting them or something?
Do you really think that burning to another media would solve the problem? And if so, why would the media be the sourec of the out of sync problem?

    Thanks!

  9. Does anyone know how I can create a VCD on a DVD-R disc?
I'm trying to do it with Nero, but it seems to want to do it only with a CD-R and does not offer me the possibility of doing it on a DVD-R .
