  1. Hey whats up?
Quite recently i have been running into an issue with trying to copy dvd-ram disc to my pc using the liteon jlms xj-hd 166s drive.

What is has been doing is introducing digital artifacts in the picture every now and then. What i mean by artifacts are glaring glitches that would otherise show you had a defective disc (bad pic distortion ,etc). At first i
thought it was the ram disc (maxell, just purchased) as i had an older tdk disc and it still worked fine. So i returned them and picked up some fuji rams. The first one (from the fuji pack) worked great, now im getting the artifact thing again. It also now started with the tdk as well, but the tdk was already a highly used disc so im chalking that up as the disc itself is shot

I then tried the disc in the same spots on the machine that made it (panny dmr-hs2 homedeck) and it plays crystal. So this now leaves me with the question of is it possible my liteon drive is starting to die out? Regular dvds/dvdrs still copy fine. thanks again--

  2. just ran put and picked up a pioneer a09xl drive and it read and copied the ram disc flawlessly, which means that i suppose my liteon drive is on the way out

(the pionner drive was 129 with a 50 $ rebate, so why would i get another liteon for virtually the same price)
