Chrissy, when you have a chance, pls answer my question below about
AV-sync, and anyway, since I am now using TMPgenc to add burned-in subs, this one:
Am using TMP to do PAL to PAL and add subs. It's an older version,
2.54.37.135 and I am selecting the "setting"
DVD PAL CQ_VBR 50.
Do you know if TMP, in a DVD-out situation like this, is smart enuf to add NAV PACs ? If yes I could add _S2D at the end of the MPG filename to save S2D processing time.
If you aren't sure, I could do an experiment but I would need to know
how to test the resultant DVD for whatever horrible thing would happen
playing a non-NAVPAKed DVD. i.e. I know NP's are good and needed, just
don't know what happens if they are missing.
Cheers, P-PA![]()

As far as your NAV packs, I believe SVCD2DVD checks for those and, if present, will use the file "as is" even without the "S2D" extension. If there happen to be other issues of compliance (audio bitrate, etc.) the file will still get processed to some extent.
My advice is try it and see. -
Thanks for jumping in with the help - it's nice to see others on the forum taking some of the load off
of Chrissy.
Right you are, I took file created by S2D and renamed it "MovieWithNavPaks.mpg" and S2D
recognized it and didn't reprocess it. That still leaves open the question as to whether TMPgenc can
create files that S2D would leave alone, since I didn't pay attention
to the audio specs when I did the
TMP conversion from AVI.
Do you know what the specs are for the audio that S2D creates ?
TIA, P-PA -
Should be 224Kbps 48000Hz Mpeg layer 2. The 224 can be adjusted if needed for bitrate, but I would not go below 192 as I've heard some players have trouble with that. The 48000 is the important part for DVD.
