  1. Hi guys,

Are the TRV260 and TRV338 capable of transcoding my old vhs movies into digital using the pass through feature?

    Thanks for any help!

Taken from Sony literature on the TRV260:

"Analog to Digital Pass Through The DCR-TRV260 can serve as an analog to
digital device and includes SVideo, and Firewire ports as in/out options."

However, I believe that the TRV260 cannot directly play analog 8mm
or Hi-8 tapes to create firewire output.

Yes. Connect your VCR to the camcorder for input and out via firewire to the computer. There probably shouldn't be a tape in the camcorder for the passthrough to work (that's how it is on my TRV230). On the computer you'll need a "capture" app like WinDV.
