Dish Network - Blue Card or Yellow Card

Dish mailed me a new Yellow card to replace the Blue card in one of my reciever's. Anyone know why??
It happens the week before I recieved the Blue card the reciever it was in stopped working,it was an old Model 1000.
I had a Model 3000 I wasn't using so I activated it and threw the 1000 in the garbage.
The mailing says I should replace my Blue cards with Yellow cards,but when I called Dish they said the Blue card in the 3000 didn't need to be replaced with a Yellow card. WHY???

They are making changes to stop hackers. So you need a new card which contains new hardware in the chip. Don't worry. Insert the card and call activate it.

The 3000 can take the update without switching cards so it doesn't need one.

Same thing happened at my house.

ViRaL1, they just haven't gotten to your area yet. The changes are being rolled out by area since different sats. provide different coverage. Its to much to do all at one time I guess. I think they've actually been working on it for some time.

Flaystus is right they are trying to stop hackers. DTV sent out new cards about a year ago there old cards HU replace by P4 cards. TECHTV was talking about when OJ got caught LOL.
