"It's a prank, but it's a prank that went bad. It's embarrassing to the boy, his family and the school," said Superintendent Dr. John Curtin.

The victim said that his girlfriend was "very apologetic" about the stunt. He said that the two are still together and he hopes state police who are investigating and could file charges the case, will see it as a harmless prank.
Would he be singing the same tune if it was the boy who distributed pictures of the girl? Doubt it.

My thoughts exactly. There's no reason to get the police involved. At the very worst, the boy and his parents would have some recourse in civil court. But the boy appears to be pretty much unphased by it and seems to want to just put it in the past. And if his parents agree, why not just forget it?

When I was going to high school, there was a guy in my gym class who would do anything on a dare. In our sophomore year, girl's PE and boy's PE sessions were held at the same time ... girls at one end of the gym, boys at the other end ... each with their own shower rooms. One day, somebody brought in a flash camera and dared him to run into the girl's shower room and take photos. So, while the teachers were otherwise occupied, that's just what he did, hehe. The place echoed ... and a few seconds after he snuck in, the screams started. He managed to get out of their shower room about a minute later. But, the PE teachers kept us all in the gym until the camera was finally confiscated.

The guy was suspended for a day and, when he came back, was forced to make an apology in front of the entire combined girls/boys PE class. And that was that.

We have created a society where no-one takes resposnibility, and every little thing requires some huge compensation, be it legal or civil. There is a story in this morning's paper regarding the amount of money being paid out by our state government to students as compensation for being bullied. Some payouts were as high as $250,000. These payouts were for so-called pain and suffering, and to keep the matters out of court.

Some of them are legitimate - a broken jaw in an unprovoked attack is assualt. But $194,000 for tripping on a path ? $100,000 for walking into a door ? Give me a break. Please. It's worth a lot of money.

Just saw a new lawyer commercial, this one definitely has a different twist. The gist of it was they would represent you if you knew someone that had committed insurance fraud if you wanted to report them for a reward, ".....millions of dollars in rewards....blah,blah,blah"

    Oh, the irony.

Some lawsuits are just crazy period , a Mountain biker sued and won 1.5 million $ in Canada (he was a lawyer btw) because he wiped out on a mountain bike trail (broke an arm i think) , in the mountains near vancouver , which was cleared and set up by volunteers. He sued the goverment which owned the mountain .. Becuase of that, they want volunteers who work on gov. property to now carry their own liability insurance for such lawsuits.

The thing is - -if you go down a mountain on a bike, you would think you woudl know you might fall and hurt yourself ...

Some lawsuits have also been filed in the usa because some surfers got hurt surfing and say they should have been prevented from surfing in the first place (i kid you not) .. becuase of this many places want to ban surfing completly ..

My Buddy owns a catering business, if there's any left over food instead of giving it away to a soup kitchen he ends up throwing a lot of it away because of insurance regulations. I think supermarkets end up doing that a lot with fresh produce, it's not bad just isn't good enough to sell because it will be bad shortly.

You wont see that happening. Supermarkets will put up food at the reduced price if its near its best before end date rather than throw it away (well, that happens here in the UK)

You'll notice the fresh milk is always at the back. They make sure you take the old milk first. Which is why I always check the best before date prior to buying.
