1.08 is the latest F/W. I used it for close to 12 months without any problems so long as you feed it DVD-R blanks.

Do you mean you've encountered problems if you DON'T use DVD-R blanks? I have 1.07 and haven't had any problems burning all 4 formats, so why should I update.

  4. mmm bit confused here. do i use the 107 first?? then the 108?? are you saying that you can only put blank dvd's in the drive and not pre-recorded ie 'films'.

    Kathy,

Update your F/W to v1.08. I wasn't able to burn S/L DVD+R, only S/L DVD-R and I didn't have any problems during the time I owned that burner. I haven't ever used rewritable blanks as I did not have a use for them.

Of course it will read pre-recorded DVD's.

  11. Ok I’ve done it, I’ve flashed my Pioneeer 106D DVD drive. It took a bit of doing though cos no matter what I downloaded there was no OS X icon in any of the folders so this is what I did after hours of torment.

1 - I downloaded the FlashIt Kit for OS X from:

    http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=30233

2 –I downloaded the OS X Pioneer DVR 106D v 1.08 from the French site:

    http://www.macetvideo.com/flashpioneerosx/flashpioneerosx.html

I then placed the firmware (R6100106.108) from (2) into (1) then double clicked the ‘Flashit.command’ icon and it was done in 30 seconds AND IT WORKS.

So give the girl a medal I got there in the end.

Thanks for all your help and advice and I hope my method helps someone along the way.

    Kind regards

    Kathy
