  1. Hi all,

I'm using my Sony MiniDV to record home videos.
Until now I convert all the DV file into Mpeg2 files using ProCoder2 and the result are awesome ! the problem is that I can fit only 1.5-2 Hours apx. on one DVDR.

I thogth to convert the DV file to XVID/DIVX to save space.
Do you think that Xvid/Divx converted will be less quality then the Mpeg2 ? should I try to spend time on it ?

I manage to have Xvid file with pretty good quality but the filesize is very similer to the Mpeg2....

    Can someone inlight me ?

xvid is mainly for the delivery of media on a CD. You will not get any better quality advantage to put home videos on xvid because xvid can not be put on a dvd. The newest beta autogk does a good job of converting avis to xvid and these xvids are good for putting your videos on cd for playing on your computer or xvid player
