Use an Epson R200 or other printer that can print on CDs/DVDs.

The tray that comes with the R200 has a little cover that allows for the business card cdrs. If these cdrs aren't injket printables then you'll have to buy the business card lables.

I guarantee I'll not be able to find that little tray adapter now.

Yes, it comes with it out of the box. As for getting a new one I guess you could call or email Epson and see if they'll send you one.

I rang them once from work and they quoted a tenner, but they also wanted the serial of the printer for some reason. I never bothered to phone em back.

Bah. Just looked at some of those on a site, and while those Business Card CDRs look cool, they only hold a pathetic 50MBs!

Meh i'd rather use those mini 3" CD-Rs. Those are tiny, compact, look neat AND can hold about 210MBs.

With a good 2 pass vbr Xvid encode I can squeeze 2hrs of postage stamp sized video on one, 'course I loose some time if I want to include sound or colour . . . . . :P

I think that is plenty. After all, its only a business card. You put a quick little 30 second commercial, a link your you webpage, and a PDF about the company. Its not ment to transport large amounts of data.

Plus the "cool factor" is more important than storage space when you are attacting clients. Frankly, given two identical companies, I bet most would go to the one that gave them the business card CD over the standard mini-CD

Agreed. If the inkljet printable ones like you picked up have lots of printing surface then all the better. These are quickies. Get some nice clear sleeves for them so the printing is easy to read and you can give them out at places as a far superior advertisement than just printed brochures. It'd be easy to put an autorun on there pointing to something as simple as an HTML layout with products and services.

If you want to go the distance then you can create a press kit. My studio does this by authoring something nice to DVD complete with printing on the disc and a normal DVD case with a good printed cover and liner book. We stuff as much ROM data as we have room left on the disc (which is usually a lot). We also print off a lot of that information and include 8x10 photos and stuff like that in a small binder. We've put together some very good press kits over the years like that and they work really well once you've got the hook in a client. Only downside is that you really need to have some good designers and creative people to keep making things different and not rely on templates and all that for your layouts, but if you're only doing these for your business then perhaps it's best to come up with a "theme" and stick with that until you feel it's getting old or not helping your business image.

But then don't take anything I say seriously, my edication has absolutely nothing to do with marketing, business, or sales (seriously)

I did a test by putting a 49.5MB Linux Live distro on it, then quickly knocked up a simple cd print for it. Looks very nice.
