Anyone have a download link yet to go up to NeroVision Express 3.1.0.0.C?
Will NeroVision Express now encode AVIs with 5.1 to DVDs with the same 5.1 Dolby Digital audio without re-compression?

Can you confirm those are links to version 3.1.0.0.C and not 3.1.0.0?
File date on the FTP site is Feb. 22 which is the older version. 3.1.0.0.C was released April 7.
First two links also appear not to work.

nope -- even on ahead (nero) german site is any other version but feb 22 (this site has much more software than usa ftp site)
but all the other latest (today) versions are there -- maybe release was pulled .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Nice one Ahead. Now all you need to do is incorporate DD into Nero Digital(tm) as standard and your MP4 codec might still have a chance.

Actually if you just try looking here:
ftp://ftp.us2.nero.com/
You will see there is a file 'NVE-3.1.0.0d.exe' listed, but not the 'C' version.
The file date/timestamp reads "4/19/2005 11:41:00 AM".
Hope this helps!"I've got a present for ya!" - TTWC -
I am totally confused by postings, is the version that is available in 5.1 or not. Can you just load the exe. to update only the applicable function and not all ther rest of the junk. If it is please give me site to load from as nero dont seem to make it clear

Spent a bit of time experimenting with the Nero 5.1 Dolby Digital encoder plugin when used with Nerovision Express 3.
When creating a 5.1 DVD from an .AVI with 5.1 sound , it will keep the original audio track and not downmix to 2 channel and then create a "pseudo 5.1" effect on the final DVD.
On another note, Nerovision will not detect 24fps AVI files or at least won't apply 3:2 pulldown flags when encoding to MPEG-2 from such sources. Obviously this results in a huge loss of space valuable space.

There are 100's of "wanna be" codecs out there. I've lost track of how many, but let's just say there are a LOT.
NeroVision's codec is simply one of these "wanna be" codecs. The only "real" codecs as far as I'm concerned, are ones which are integrated into standalone DVD players ...
In other words, DIVX and XVID.
Other than these two, the rest are transient at best. -
satviewer2000 you are sadly mistaken and wrong .. but i doubt even with the facts we can change your mind ..

I think that this becomes a "Betamax vs VHS" argument. Sure, technologically Betamax was better than VHS, but so what? VHS still won out big time in the end. It's not which is better, but which is more popular.
DIVX and XVID will become the codecs of choice simply because they are able to market themselves better. Just look at all the DIVX/XVID DVD players out there. There's no way NeroVision or anyone else can make up for the gap.
I've even read that DirectTV in their next generation satellite decoders will use DIVX to broadcast their high-definition material to save bandwidth. These codecs have won the Betamax vs VHS battle already. For any other codec to break through, it would have to be DRAMATICALLY better, and NeroVision's codec is only marginally better. -

please give it up and talk to someone in the broadcast industry as many people here are ..

Who markets Xvid? just a bunch of drug-crazed hippies with no respect for profit-making!...

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Nero Digital based on the Mpeg4 AVC (h.264) format? I also recall reading some press releases about (hollywood) HD-DVD & Blu-ray using h.264 as the compression of choice.
In fact, hardware support for Nero Digital is already in the works: cdrinfo newsSome people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think.
