  1. Hey guys
I have the Pioneer DV-353 Model
The silver one, not the new slim black one

Anyway, Im trying to get a SVCD to play here
I have never had this problem in 3 yrs of playing my SVCD's and VCD's on this dvd player
    They always played perfect

I put in a disk that was SVCD formatted
This time, when I put it in
The screen goes grey, then starts jumping up and down at every scene.
I played it np on my computer.
So, im not sure whats causing this
Its starting to piss me off, lol.

Any ideas on how to fix this??

I could be wrong, but this could possibly be caused by a PAL-NTSC mismatch. That is, maybe your player is outputing a PAL signal from the SVCD and the TV expects an NTSC signal, or vice-versa. The Teco Bit Rate Viewer at http://www.tecoltd.com can let you examine your video to see if it's PAL or NTSC. You can also check your DVD player to make sure the TV output is set correctly and somehow didn't get reset with you realizing it.

One more possible cause is your bit rate might be too high for SVCD. I seem to recall that Pioneer DVD players typically weren't real happy with SVCD if the bit rate exceeded the specs for the format. If your bit rate is over 2600 Kbps, that might be the problem too.

  3. This is what I dont understand man

The first time I put the disc into the DVD player
I played no problem, no jumping in the frames or anything

I put the disc in a second time
    And this time
The TV went Greyscale and then when it started playing
The frames were jumping up and down like crazy.

Thats what I have a problem figuring out
Im not sure if the laser is starting to go
Or its the settings on the TV or the DVD player

But I got it to play perfectly once and the second time
    That crap happens
    Any suggestions man>?
