I have downloaded 2 mpegs, part one and part 2 of the same movie.

I have burnt part 1 to VCD directly from Toast 5.1.3 no problem, but when trying to do the same with part 2, i get the message:

'This file cannot be used to create a Video CD. Please use the"Video CD" option in your MPEG encoder/multiplexer'.

I have looked through the video properties of both files, and the only difference is that part 1 is PAL framerate, part 2 is NTSC.

Why can I not burn part 2 the same way as part one, and what is a possible solution?

    Thanks, Ian

Most likely Toast 5.13 is bugging out the video portion
    of the .mpg.

Around here, we like to use a little program called
VCD Builder 1.1. You drag and drop the .mpg files
into it, and if it gives you a "warning" yellow triangle
on an .mpg file, that lets you know it won't pass
    muster with Toast.

At this point, you would have to break the mpg back
(de-mux) into its elementary streams, and then
re-mux with Toast's VIDEO CD mpg plugin through
    Quicktime Pro.
[You would have gotten said plug-in with a
legit copy of Toast 5 Ttianium. Quicktime Pro is $30 from Apple.]
Once you have done that, you would be
able to burn it effectively in Toast.

Cheers for your reply Terry. I demuxed and remuxed the file with ffmpeg and the mpegs burn fine now.

I'm checking out VCD Builder as I type. Gonna get some chapters goin on!

Terry, one more thing. Am I correct in believing that if I use Toast 6 to extract the Mpeg from a video cd, it doesn't decode and reencode the file does it? It just pulls the mpeg-1 file out? Thus not losing any quality, correct?
