I'm just wondering what are considered good prices for cheap dvd writers? A few years ago I bought a cd burner from the Sunday papers, it ended up being something like 40-50 bucks after rebate, which was a good price. I saw in the paper theres a Memorex dvd burner with dual layer for 80 bucks after rebate, do dvd burners run any cheaper? Even if its a no name brand. I know I/O magic burners from Office Max were cheap after rebates, but they went out of business....
I'm just asking if you've seen cheaper ones in the paper, I'm not really interested in buying online.

What johns0 said. You can buy an NEC 3520 for a little over $50 from New Egg and their shipping is cheap. Many on the forums feel that this is a superior recorder. They have other makes with similar savings. I have several machines with different recorders in them and the only cheap one I tried died young. Looking for the cheapest bargain, particularly in a local chain store, will not bring satisfaction in the long run. I have a Sony 500 that I bought as a refurb over 2 years ago that is still turning out good burns, and it's in use every day. My cheapy lasted 4 months. Nyah Levi
