  2. The guides may help:

Also, what programs did you use to create the DVD? Experienced users of specific programs may be able to give advice if you list what programs you are using.

Overscan. The edges of a TV picture are obscured by the casing of the TV. This is normal, and happens with every TV show that you watch. In this case, someone has placed the subtitles too low, and they fall outside the safe area and into the oversacn area. The only way to fix this is to resize the image and add a border, so that your picture is inside the overscan area.

Use overscan in your search and you'll find solutions.

You will have to use something like tmpgenc or virtualdub to resize. Tmpgenc is probably the better option as it can resize and encode in one hit.

No more replies needed. It's overscan. Put bluntly, the person who placed the subs, either didn't know what he/she was doing, or didn't intend the material for TV playback.
Only way around this problem, is to encode with a thin (like 16 pixels) black border all around the image (using AviSynth or VirtualDub) before encoding.

No. Add borders and resize the movie to fit within those borders.
