  1. Using Plextor 712A and TMGenc authoring software.
Getting burn failure or dvds with break up. Driving me crazy!
Recently uploaded firmware update for Plextor. Using Dell dimensions computer with plenty of power and storage.
When burn does complete, it won't play on my stand alone dvd sometimes. Sometimes it does fine.
    Confusing.

  2. Make sure you are using top quality media that is compatible with your burner and player.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary...

  3. Using Verbatim, which is supposed to be ok.
I've wasted about 10 blanks already trying different software programs as well.

  4. Do you have the latest firmware? And are you buring the media at the speed it's certified for?

  5. Got latest firmware. Was afraid that could be problem. Burning media at 8x or slower. Can media be bad batch?? Is it possible it's the firmware?

  6. Try a different brand of disc and see if the problem is still there. It's also possible that the burner crapped out (had that happen to me a few weeks ago with a 8 month old LG recorder).

  7. That's what I was afraid of....that it might just be the recorder. Mine is also about 8 mos. old.

  8. One other thing to try is slow down the burn speed.

For example I tend to burn 8X DVDs at 4X seems to be better results even though it is a 16X burner. I used a 4X burner for a long time, right after the Sony DRU 500A came out.

    Good Luck

  10. If it means anything, I will get a message that says "invalid unit number" when i get a failed burn using TMGenc authoring software.

  12. Also try reinstalling TDA.
Do you get an error when burning with another program? If so your Plextor is probably the problem.
