  1. Over the past couple of weeks ive been posting the odd question on here and ive always had excellent feed back from the members. Now i would just like to know what you think is the best way of creating a DVD from a downloaded movie (mpg/avi/svcd/etc.). I know it obviously depends on what format the file is in when you download it but i would just like to get your feedback on what software (from the start of the conversion to the end) that you use and which you find the best, fastest or easiest. Only i ask this cos im new to creating DVD’s and I’ve tried 4 or 5 different ways, some have worked but taken years (well it feels like it) to convert, some converted very quickly but the sound is out of sink and other annoying little problems like that.

So again i ask "which ways do you find best????"

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond to this

I don't bother with converting downloads to DVD (quality is generally shite IMO, but watchable on the PC), but I do do my own TV caps, and you follow essentially the same process. For them I do the following:

Avisynth --> Virtualdub --> TMPGEnc Plus --> TMPGEnc DVD Author -->Nero.

I only use virtualdub if there's editing to be done. Otherwise it's just Avisynth --> TMPGEnc Plus --> TMPGEnc DVD Author -->Nero.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. What I would do is :

    1. Use Gspot to check that I have a suitable codec installed.
    2. Asuming that I do have a suitable codec I would then use TMPGEnc Xpress to convert the file to an mpg that is DVD compatible. Note make sure that you stick with the same setup as the original file in that if it is NTSC then select NTSC DVD as your final file type. This avoids sound sync problems.
    3. Turn the resultant file into a set of DVD files with TMPGEnc DVD Author.
    4. Finally burn to a blank disc. For this I use Nero.

I don't download movies but videos I create I use...

    Photoshop
    Premiere
    After Effects
    Bryce 3D
    Pinnacle Studio 8
    TMPGenc Plus 2.5
    TMPGenc DVD Author
    DVD Decrypter to burn

    >>>I should mention that I do not always use TMPGenc Plus and DVD Author, if I am too lazy to convert the DV-AVI file, I will just use DVD Workshop...and more recently, I've tried out DVD-Lab Pro and I'm a little miffed , IMO DVD-Lab Pro is so much better than TDA that I'm pissed off at my so called "friends" around here for not making me try DVD-Lab earlier #@%$*!#er's
