  1. I joined 2 wmv files then converted the joined file to MPEG1 using TMPGEnc. I used SVCD2DVD to author & burn the mpg file to DVD.The resulting output files looked fine but the DVD would not play on my DVD player although the VOB file would play on my PC.

Using exactly the same method I used Nero to author & burn the DVD. It played without problem on my DVD player.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

What are the details of the mpeg1 files?

The size is not compatable with the DVD specs. It would need to be 352 x 288 for PAL or 352 x 240 for NTSC to be compatable (i.e that is the closest to your source resolution).

I suspect Nero is resizing to one of those & that is why it plays ok. If you had converted from wmv to mpeg1 and resized at the same time in TMPGEnc then there would not have been an issue with SVCD2DVD.

    Does that make sense?
