  1. Hey,

I am buying a new 40gig HDD. I currently have a 10gig with WinXP installed on it, and I like WinXP. But bought a capture card (iomega buz) which only runs on Win95/Win98 .. so I am hoping to put Win98 onto my 40gig hdd and will I be able to use Win98 to boot when I want?

This is rather confusing, so please help me out.
Would it be best to do NTFS on the 40gig hdd (will be used for capturing) because NTFS gets rid of the 4 gig file limit doesnt it? What other ways are there to get around the limit?

Any help would be great! Thank you!

A:Yes! This is called dual booting, look it up in Google for more info on it.

  3. Here's the thing, Win9x can't read NTFS, only NT and Win2000 (NT5, hence the NT in NTfs). On the up side, FAT32, which Win9x can read, can go much higher than 4GB, and to my knowledge there isn't a limit. Installing 98 over XP will cause a problem though. It will overwrite the masterboot record that XP has and won't allow you to easily boot into XP (unless, perhaps, you get a 3rd party program, but I've never tried that). The ideal way todo this would be to install 98, then XP over it on whatever drive configuration you want. XP will pick up on 98 being installed on a seperate partition, and give you it's own nifty little boot loader, where you can choose between 98 or XP. Hope this helps.
