This drive is holding steady at a GREAT price, and as media continues
to disappear for the aging Pioneer DVR-104/A04
(2x media and 4x media), it's time to put the puppy to bed,
and get upgraded into a DVR-109!

    gosh...I love my drive..... :P

And I'm not going to put it in a firewire enclosure either, I don't have room....dorm rooms really are too small....

iMac G4 can take a standard size drive!

iMac G3 and G5 take special slot-loading drives.

    don't forget Patchburn:

    willrob: no.
I will probably not do it until
    (a) common media ( current in my local area 8x)
is fully replaced by 16x media
    (b) Prices on Dual Layer media come down,
as for now, I have no need to burn to DL media.

for right now it works fine out the box.

Version 1.40*provides improved readability of DAO(Direct-At-Once) DVD-R and DVD-RW discs by some DVD-ROM drives--including those in some Pioneer In-Dash DVD Multimedia AV/Navigation Receivers, supports 6X writing speeds on Verbatim (Mitsubishi Chemical) DVD-R DL media, 2X writing on other manufacturers' DVD-R DL media, supports 12X writing on FujiFilm, Prodisc, MBI, and Ritek DVD-R 16X media, supports 12X writing on RICOH, RITEK, Optodisc and DAXON DVD+R 16X media, plus*improves with DVD reading/writing and CD-R/RW writing overall (WIN)
