  1. Hi

I have recently purchased a sony handycam DVD and have quite a few dvd's that I want to edit.

I am having a problem using the software that came with the camera as it isn't that clear on how to use it and I would like to use the Sonic or Pinnacle programme as this seems to be easier.

The problem is that neither of these programmes recognise the camera when connecting it through the USB so I have tried to copy it from the harddrive but neither programme support the VOB files.

I really need help to convert them so that I can edit it, but as I am a newbie will need step by step instruction if anyone has the patience for it.

I am trying to make a dvd that has still pictures that I have made into a slideshow and want to add some movie footage.

    Thanks

  2. I have Sony DCR DVD201. Hopefully the software with your camera is similar. I did not finf a direct way to copy DVD in VOB format to my hard disk. What I did was used the software's "Capture environment" (first option).

First I read the disc into the software. Then selected all the movie files and used the "disc to disc copy" option (Icon with one disk with arrow pointing to multiple disks). What this does is store an image of DVD on your hard drive (as a .img file). I used magicISO to read that image file. MagicISO display all the files in that image file - basically the VOB files and other files. Then I just saved those of from magicISO.

I havent tried with still pics, but I think it could be done similarly. Hope this helps.
