  1. I saw a cheap Philips DVD Recorder the other day (less than £100) and I was just wondering, is it at all possible to copy a region 2 DVD onto a blank DVD-/+R using a DVD Recorder?

Obviously, the region 2 DVD will have macrovision on there.

It is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier with a computer DVD Burner.

  3. OK, so whats the procedure for copying a region 2 DVD with a DVD recorder?

And Bob W, I'm not willing to buy another component plus the DVD Recorder just to copy a DVD.

  4. The easy way to "back-up" a DVD is to use a DVD burner for the computer then use DVDshrink which is free and burn the files that program generates with the DVD burner. You will also need some type of burning software like Nero or RecordNow or you could just use DVD Decrypter (and forget DVDshrink) to rip the DVD and use it to do the burn. Both DVDshrink and DVD Decypter are free.

  5. I know that buying a DVD Re-Writer is probably the best and easiest option but I'm examining all options that are available to me.

I just want to know if its possible to actually copy a region 2 DVD with a DVD Recorder (and no extra components)?

A simple yes or no would do.

  6. I believe that some DVD recorders one can find hacked firmware for them that will get around the macrovision and region issues.

  7. Ok, so where can I get the hacked firmware from?

If I typed the model and make of a DVD Recorder into Google, will it find the software that I need to copy original DVDs?

Or is it one of those things that you have to buy illegally?

  8. The Liteon recorders will do it. You can find the links to hack sites on this site.
