    Hiya guys,

I have a 14gig source file - how can i get this onto an 8.5 gig DVD ?

What app do i need to get maximum quality onto a DVD ?

I tried DVD author, but afetr it hits 9 gig, it complains file is too big - i was then going to dvd shrink it.

Shame dvd shrink cant accept .mpg files.

Whats my best option guys, without the need for much fiddling etc with bitrates

    Many thanks for your help

  2. You need to re-encode to a lowr bitrate to reduce the size appropriatley.

GeorgeW - hello mate, well it has been converted from a Satellite .rec file to MPG - its Wrestlemania21 from last night.

So its just under 4 hrs, with MPEG2 (mpa) audio (i think, not AC3)

rejig seems to be doing ok, i can specify a maximum output size which is great - so ive told it to go to 8000mb so will be ok for a DVD8.5

    agree?

im pretty new to encoding, but not to dvd authoring.

    marty,

    rejig has done the trick.

Thanks so much for your help.

its done exactly what i wanted - ie to specify the maximum file size - and the app works out the max compression to fit the size.

    perfect utility.
