    Hi was wondering if you guys could help me out. I am a little confused as to the different formats vcd,svcd, and kvcd. With Vcd I just de multiplex the audio and video then with Besweet turn the 44hz audio into 48. However do i have to use Tmpg to turn the video into a SuperVideo-Cd {Ntsc Film} or can I simply just author the .m1v and .mpa files using dvd lab pro? When it comes to Svcd i am totally confused, because even though i follow the same steps as in vcd, such as merge the 2 files, de multiplex then run the audio thru Besweet I am not sure what I should do with the .m2v file. Then there are these Kvcd, i keep seeing in mpg format, I really like these files because they are so small, how would i encode kvcds to be compatible in dvd standalone.

    I am not sure if you have ever used Tmpgenc so if you havent just ignore this part please, but one thing that is very confusing to me is in the Guides i have read they always say choose Super Video-CD Ntsc Film, but then what is the DVD {Ntsc} part for then?

    Thnx guys for ur help

  2. SVCD has an aspect ratio of 1:1 at 480x480.
    DVD has an aspect ratio of (usually) 4:3 at 720x480.
    That's the difference in the two templates in tmpgenc (among a few other things like bitrate...)
    If you're making an SVCD, then use the SVCD template. If you want to make small filesize mpeg-2 videos on DVD (such as KDVD), then use the KDVD template.
    If you want a "normal" DVD, select the DVD (NTSC) template.

    If you want to try making a KDVD, get the template, open tmpgenc, load your template, load your video and encode it.

  3. Audio:
    S/VCD=44.1KHz
    DVD=48KHz
    If you have any more questions on formats look at the top left under "What Is".

  5. VCD - you get it right - only the audio at 48 khz
    SVCD - difficult to say you must be sure your DVD player support the svcd resolution (480x480) on DVD (it is not supported in standart DVD specs).
    KVCD - even more difficult as they originally are mpeg1 VBR with out of any specs GOP size (the matrix doesn't matter).
    So the only advice I can give you - try and see.
    i live in russia?
    Well, ya nie znaju.
