  1. trying to convert AVI to DVD using DVD2SVCD. I get the following error message:

    DVDAuthor failed for unknown reasons!
    For details open: "C...\DVDAuthor_log.txt"

    DVDAuthor::dvdauthor, version 0.6.10.
    Build options: gnugetopt iconv freetype
    Send bugs to <dvdauthor-users@lists.sourceforge.net>

    INFO: Locale=C
    INFO: Converting filenames to US-ASCII
    INFO: dvdauthor creating VTS
    STAT: Picking VTS 01

    STAT: Processing C:\...\MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg...
    ERR: Error opening C:\MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg: No such file or directory

    This has never happened before. The AVI plays fine in WMP. Virtualdub does not indicate any bad frames. Help!

    Well looks like DVD2SVCD never produced MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg. Possibly because there audio and video were over 4GB's and you weren't using a NTFS partition to work with. You should however have the seperate audio and video that you can author though.

  3. I'm using XP so NTFS/4gb isn't an issue (never has been in the past anyway). There's tons of space left on the drive. So, you're suggesting I just take whatever audio and video SVCD2DVD produces up to the point that it conks out and run that myself through TMPGEnc (or DVDAuthor)? Correct? Any suggestions as to what those audio and video files would be named? Thanks.

  4. Thanks for your help. I haven't been able to solve this, but will not pursue it further for other reasons.
