Last night I bought a apex drx9200 at value city for 129. I've read some of the problems on it and was wondering if the ilo was a better unit? The main thing im trying to do is replace my vcr. I have seen the ilo is the most hackable. Please give me some opinions. Thanks Jay

Spend $200 and get a Pioneer DVR-220s. It's a well made recorder with no known problems. It won't blowup or turn the picture green.

  4. go with the ILO at walmart for a $138...it works great and if you really have the extra cash go with harddisk version instead..

  5. Also, both the ILO R04 and HD04 have firmware fixes for the green tint issue available now and the Pioneer you can't hack.

I have both. The HD04 gets the dirty work of backing up my MV protected tapes and the Pioneer gets all the rest of my recording duties. They both work great for their use.

I've never had the "green tint" problem on my iLo, nor do I have the fast clock problem. I've had mine for7 months now.

  9. Me three. I've been using mine for about a monthor two, and have NEVER noticed those issues. I HAVE however HAD issues: My Dishnetwork 522 remote screwing with the ILO, and the built-in screensaver activating during playback of some older vcr tapes. So far, I have not been successful in fixing the remote problem, but my solution to the vcr tape issue was simple: Convert them to DVD. LOL.
