    - Hold it at arms length by the edges with both hands and your thumbs on the hub
    - press inwards on the hub as hard as you can (it is safest to close your eyes)
    - keep pressing hard until you hear a cracking/shattering sound

    CD is now copy protected.

The best copy protection is not to lend it to anyone.

Hmmm... you can try Exact Audio Copy....I used this applc before and if I'm not mistaken there would be a way (of course neither definitive, nor perfect) to burn a copy protected CD. Please note it's a beta version and some CD players have problems playing media burned with EAC, even though it is unbeatable when the subject is to backup your own CDs. I remember another one, Feurio (guess it was bought by Nero).....By the way, have you already heard about Sony CD Architect 5.2? It's a terrific applc.

EAC doesn't protect discs, and frankly everyone can read EAC discs just fine. Please ignore Cunhambebe's statements. EAC is a wonderful program.

    Hello,

Yes, it is possible to copy protect audio CDs, you only need to create an ISO image of the disc and modify it with protection software, it is not bullet proof though, because people like me still can copy them, but normal people will have a hard time trying to do it and soon they will give up.

The way it works is by adding dummy data to the beginning of the disc or introducing many corrupted data tracks to confuse the application trying to read the disc.

You will also need a CD burner that accepts illegal Cue Sheet specifications, I can tell you that Sony and HP burners cannot be used for this purpose.

I used to create these kind of copy protected cds with an application I found in the void, but I can't remmeber its name right now.

However, you could license a technology such as SafeDisc or securom, but it is a little expensive, over US$100,000.00

    - I'm sorry for my statement. About a year ago I burned some CDs with EAC for my neighbor and his CD player had some problems playing certain tracks. I'm sorry again if I've been misundestood. That was not my intention at all. I know EAC it's such a magnificent program and I know Andre (EAC's author) myself . So if you say EAC's perfect, then the problem must have been with my own CD drive, my OS or my neighbor's CD player.

  13. You can also send a master to a duplicating house that has a license agreement with copy protection developers. While it increases the cost of the CD, the normal non-protected copy charge is usually quite reasonable.

I have used duplication houses for some video projects when I need over 50 copies. It's a lot easier that burning 50 videos one at a time. Copy protection was a per item charge. You can do a Google search and find tons of duplicating houses.

Remember, there isn't any copy protection for video or audio that can't be broken. Usually quite easily.
