  1. my friend wants to put 2 flatscreens on the wall of his store and use them as menus and just have a collage of images of the food he's selling every now and then to not completly burn in the screren with the menu.

What cheap, good enough for this job, flat screen wall mountable tv's are there?

is EDTV good enough? these seem to be cheaper than conventional $4k plasma and are under $2k in price.

Also what whould i use to broadcast the menu to these screens? i know a few mcDonalds in my area that use the flatscreens as menus and at around midnight the "reboot" and seem to be running Win2000. Can i put 2 video cards in a pc and run 2 different signals to the tv's?

Or use that windows extended desktop and have the left side of the desktop one menu and the right side of the desktop the other 1/2 of the menu.??

I have no idea on where to start.. any help or pointers would help.

I also posted this under the TV section for what type of EDTV flatscreen to get.

Cheap and fancy often don't go together. Check out some of the matrox cards for multi monitor support. DOT-X is a company that offers multi monitor systems also. I am trying to do a nine monitor grid myself and keep hitting the brick wall (gold brick that is, as in big ideas little expendable cash)
A slow roll or scroll can help with the burn in and monitor choice may be more dependent on size or space than actual type of unit. If you can get the output to do what you want, the monitors may not really matter
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

Personally, I would go with a AGP video card with second monitor output along with a PCI video card. The cards would not need to be expensive for this application. Use whatever LCD monitors that are on sale. Most any of them can be adapted to wall mount, just screw the base to the wall and rotate the display to the right position.

If the mount rotates 90 degrees, should work fine. 19 inch would be good. 15 inch may be too small. Bigger would be better, but the price would be pretty high for 21 inch.

You should be able to run the system with about any OS. XP would be the easiest because of setup. Use an economy computer, with a separate small monitor for setup. Get VGA extension cables so you can remote the computer from the wall displays. 25 foot VGA cables are cheap enough. Look into PowerPoint for the display program. Easy to use. You can integrate video graphics and lettering.

The AGP card would be set to run the one wall monitor and the program on the computer monitor separately. The PCI video card would just run the other monitor.

Just a suggestion, but it should work.
