  1. Hello,
I have a few tapes that I am converting that have some picture jitters that my JVC 9911 can't correct. I am looking for a TBC and spent most of my money on the vcr and a bvp-4. I see that the avt-8710 is about $40 cheaper. Is it just as good of a tbc as the datavideo? Also, should I turn off the jvc's tbc when using a standalone tbc. Thanks.

    Not better, just different.
    They operate relatively the same.

The TBC-1000 does wonders with removing jitter, but the AVT-8710 does not see to hold that same honor.

The AVT-8710 has minor proc amp controls, but you have an Elite BVP-4, so you won't care about that probably.

Some people report the TBC-1000 softens the image slightly, but I never have seen that. Some say the same about the AVT-8710, but not as many.

The TBC-1000 does not seem to go into "test pattern mode" like the 8710 does. I can record REALLY bad tapes this way, it never thinks the signal is "gone" on the TBC-1000.

Some people complain about "blue bars" on the TBC-1000. Again, never seen them, at least not often. I have heard about varying artifacts on the 8710 too. Either way, both improve the image FAR MORE than it would destroy it.

I prefer the TBC-1000. Buy that one if you have the cash or have lots of jitter on your tapes. If not, the 8710 is fine too. B&H is cheapest.

Should or can you use both TBC's at the same time? Or use just one at a time? I have a TBC-1000 and a JVC-S9600U.

  4. [/b]I have recently purchased a DR-1000 that I'm trying to use in conjunction with my ADVC-300, don't know what I'm doing wrong in terms of getting results. I have the DR-1000 connected first from the vcr, through RCA cables, don't have an S-video out for my dvd/vhs combo unit, then into the ADVC-300. I see an image with no problem, but nothing noticeable regarding image enhancement from the DR-1000 in about another week, I'll be able to upgrade my Samsungv4600 to a JVC SR-9911U. The vhs tapes I have are anywhere between 8 to 15 years old, and I'm wanting to transfer to DvD, I also just received my JVC DR-M10, which according to articles I've read from Lordsmurf I should be able to link directly to each other and do a burn to disc (-RW) and send back to the pc for any further editing? Thanks in advance for any suggestions regarding this..!!!
