There are so many guides there to convert from PAL to NTSC and vice-varsa and many of them are really good. Yet, I need help in converting my NTSC 29.97i DV (720x480) to PAL 25p VCD (352x288). Here is what I am doing right now. I am not really happy with my result though.

1. Convert NTSC 29.97i DV (720x480) files using TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress to PAL 25p VCD (352x288).
2. Use CCE to encode in VCD.

In TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress I am uisng following filters:
1. Deinterlace
Deinterlace: Deinterlace only when necessary
Deinterlace Method: Interpolation - Animation
2. Noise Reduction
Temporal NR Setting
Temporal Intensity: 25
Noise Dection Range: Long (Slow)
3. Resize
Image Position: Full screen
Resize method: Lanczos-3

I output in following format from TMPGEnc 3.0 Enc:
Video: Huffyuv v2.2.0, 352x288, 25 fps
Audio: Uncompressed PCM, 32000 Hz, 16 bit, 2 ch (stereo)

Video output codec setting is:
Compressor: Huffyuv v2.2.0
Settings:
YUV2 Compression method: Predict median (best)
RGB Compression methid: Predict gradian (best)
Field threshold: 288 lines
Enable full-size output buffer

(Source audio (in DV) is PCM 32000 Hz, 16 bit, 2 ch (stereo) - It's from Hi-8 camcoder)

The reason to use this method is just to get same lenght movie as NTSC. I did tried to convert directly from DV to VCD using CCE but it expanded my 65 miniute video to 78 minute and it didn't fit in one CD.

Is there any better way to convert my NTSC 29.97i DV (720x480) to PAL 25p VCD (352x288)? Though I am very happy with the TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress's Huffyuv output. It looks exaclty same as the source.

I know CCE is the best for MPEG-2 but is it TRUE for MPEG-1 becuase I am not happy with the VCD file generated by CCE from the Huffyuv avi file?

Should I use 4.1.1 -> 4.2.2 interpolation in CCE while I am converting from...
1. Huffyuv to MPEG-1/2
2. NTSC 29.97i DV (720x480) to NTSC/PAL DVD

Here is some information about my DV files:
From VideoInspector
Codec: Sony Digital Video (DV) 525 lines at 29.97Hz or 625 lines at 25Hz

From GSpot v2.52
Video
Codec: dvsd
Name: DVC/DV Video

GPost can not rander the vodeo under "Proposed Codec Solution and Tests" But using MS A/V rander GSpot gives me following information:
Rander OK; the following combination of filters was used:
(Src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Spliter]>--(B)-->[DV Video Decoder]>--(C)-->[Video Rander]
(Src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Spliter]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device]

Where
(Src) == My DV avi file
(A) == MEDIASUBTYPE_Avi
[AVI Spliter] == quartz.dll
(B) == MEDIASUBTYPE_DVSD
[DV Video Decoder] == qdv.dll
(C) == MEDIASUBTYPE_YUV2
[Video Rander] == quartz.dll
[Default DirectSound Device] == quartz.dll

Both VideoInspector and GSpot says DV codec is not installed but I am able to play the DV files.

Should I installe other DV codec? If yes which one and if you know where can I get taht? I do not know which codec gives YUV in 4.1.1 or 4.2.0

DV files are either from SONY Digital8 DCR-TRV740 NTSC or CANON ZR65 MC MiniDV NTSC camcoder.

SONY one gives me Audio in PCM 32000Hz 1024 kb/s (2 chnls)
CANON gives me Audio in PCM 48000Hz 1536 kb/s (2 chnls)

All files are capture using WinDV in type-2 (vids+auds).

Can you guys help me?
